"HIT IT LONG & STRAIGHT: By Robert Frazer

Hole # 5
Granbury Country Club
Granbury, Texas
(817) 573-9912
Par 5 460 Yards

We arrived at Granbury Country Club at 12:15 PM on a HOT Tuesday afternoon. We needed a Par 5 for record, and were advised to play Hole # 3. A relatively short Par 5 of 460 yards. Jeff said, "We were in for a challenge" when a man in the pro shop asked if either of us could drive 250 yards safely over water!! Jeff's tee ball was straight, but very short. He followed that up with less than stellar approach shots from the fairway. Before he knew what happened, he was lying six, and found himself still 25 yards from the hole. After I gave him a FREE lesson, Jeff made a geat chip shot to about 8 feet from the flag. He two putted for a "9".

I teed off and drove about 200 yards landing in the right rough (What's NEW!). My second shot, I used a 7 wood hitting it 180 yards coming to rest about 70 yards from the green, but right behind a large Oak guarding the green. I pitched short of the green, and chipped over in four. I could use a much needed putting tip, because I then 3 putted for a double bogy "7".

We had a question - "Do you have MULLIGANS in Granbury, Texas??" Once again, the hospitality in North Texas was unbelievable. We would like to give a special shout out to Sylvia in the Pro Shop who was able to get us on the course which allowd us to document our play at the Country Club. Thanks for representing the game in such fine fashion!
