"Mr. Miyagi Meets The Sumo" By: Robert Frazer

Hole # 11

Stone River Golf Club

Royse City, Texas

(972) 636-2254

Par 4, 316 Yards

Just seven miles down the highway from Rockwall is Royse City where we found the Stone River Golf Club. It is a NEW facility that is part of a residential golfing community. The first thing we noticed is how nice the club house is. It has a well stocked pro shop with all of the latest golf equipment and apparel. After paying our green-fees I noticed they had a new Nike "Sumo" demo driver. This is a driver with 460 cc head which is some of the newest technology. It really cuts down on "miss hit" shots.

After warming-up on # 1 we decided to play the 316 yard par 4 second hole for record. It is a pretty little hole with a small pond guarding the left side of the fairway.

Jeff also tried-out the new "Sumo". He hit a tee shot off the toe, but is still managed to travel to the 200 yard marker. After topping a 3 wood, Jeff hit a weak chip landing about 40 yards shy of the green. He then had a good pitch shot to within six feet of the flag. Jeff then two putted for a "6".

Using the "Sumo" driver. I hit a good drive just to the right of the fairway at the 150 yard marker. I hit my 6 iron that landed just short and left of the green. Chipping on to within 15 feet of the hole, I two putted for a bogey "5".

The real star of this stop at Stone River Golf Club was the Nike "Sumo" driver. It is a must have for any player trying to increase their accuracy and driving distance off of the tee. I also commented more than once to Jeff how nice this course layout is. I feel confident that I'll return to Royse City again to play the Stone River Golf Club.
