"Squirrel And Even Squirrelier Shots" By: Jeff Frazer

Hole # 12

Mineola Country Club

Mineola, Texas

(903) 569-2472

Par 4, 367 Yards

Do you know where Mineola, Texas is? We chose Mineola because our uncle owned a farm in Golden, Texas just down the road from Mineola. It is clear that you are in East Texas because of the abundance of large pine trees that line this course. On hole # 2 which is a par 4 that we used as our record hole, there were squirrels underneath the trees that weren't afraid to approach humans and they would come right up to you. Playing in Mineola is a lot like playing at a resort course in the mountains. We especially enjoyed the wide variety of tee box options. You can make each hole as challenging as you want.

Robert's tee shot drifted right at about the 150 yard marker. He then had to punch-out from underneath the pine trees, after he moved a squirrel. Using a 8 iron Robert chipped on from about 120 yards landing about 18 feet from the hole. He two putted for a bogey "5".

On hole # 2, I hit my tee shot a little to the right at about the 200 yard marker. After "duffing" my 3-wood and pitching short to approximately 40 yards, I had a good chip to within 10 feet of the flag. Now lying 4, I two putted for my usual "6".

Texas golfers must stop at this truly gorgeous club. You will not be disappointed! The greenskeepers were giving the course the constant care that made it a real joy to play. Thanks to Casey for explaining to us the course layout and tee-box options.
